Lovely video. Thank you.
I spend hours throughout any given year looking things. I have too much clutter to find whatever thing I’m looking for. It’s exhausting, frustrating and time consuming. I need to make some changes. Thanks for your ideas
I hear you, Pamela! It sounds like you're ready to reclaim your time and space. You've got this! 🥰❤️🌺👍
I found people definitely need an advocate when they're in the hospital, no matter how great the hospital is. Noone cares and knows your loved ones like we potentially do. I found that out when my dad was in the hospital. Also, I think good hospital staff know and appreciate when a patient's loved ones are there.
You're absolutely right! Having an advocate can make such a difference in a hospital setting. It's so important to have someone there who knows your loved one and can communicate their needs effectively! 🥰❤️🌸
@@danafindwell Exactly! You did the exact right thing by telling the nurse to bring the baby and mother together.
You look great for 59. Blessings on your journey.
Thank you so much! And thanks for watching, i really appreciate you 🥰❤️
I am 70 and this is what I learned in my life: Concentrate life of Physical, Financial, & Intellectual goals and do so your entire life. Life is better when you are Physically fit. Life is better when you are Financially Secure. Life is better when you have the skills and capabilities to handle life's problems. Half the people are “Above Average”, the other half are “Below Average”. The Below Average half fall behind, things generally work out better for the Above Average half. Strive to be in Above Average half and things work out OK. People that repeatedly fail have three excuses for every solution. Ask yourself (Frequently/as needed) “What can I do to improve my situation” Not all Bad People are all that bad, not all Good People are all that good Dollar is constantly devalued at various rates, plan on average 6% loss of value compounded annually. Learn the 4 main ways of capital preservation against dollar devaluation. Invest in Stocks, Invest in Gold, Invest in Real Estate, Invest in Income investments for diversification & compounding (Treasury Money Market, Bonds, BDCs, Preferred's, Closed End Funds, Dividend Stocks). 10Yr & Bond (Funds) have inverse price relationship, use this when deciding to buy/sell Bonds (Funds). It is not the Pronouns you need to worry about. It is the Adjectives, like: Toxic, Chaotic, Psychotic. Eliminate people with these type adjectives from your life.
Glad I find you, and thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙏
Hi Yolene, i'm so happy you found me too! Thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate you!! 🥰❤️🌸
This one will take some thought. I think that including some "treat days" will result in less fear of missing out. So not coffee today? Well, I can look forward to it on another day. BTW, I have cut back some on my coffee consumption. I always drink it at home, but now not on days I have to travel or work.
That's a great strategy, Lisa! Treat days can definitely help balance the challenge and make it more enjoyable. Best of luck with your coffee cutback! 🥰❤️🌸
I watch a lot of these videos of older people decluttering. After a while they all sound the same. I have spent my adult life in apartments. Moved sooo many times, I can't count. I got rid of stuff because I got tired of dragging them around. Yes, letting go of these things makes life better. But there is one thing you talk about that can really destroy friendships and relationships. That trinket box, your daughter gave you, did you toss it? I got rid of a gift my adult child made me as a child and he never forgave me when he looked to see if I had it. He never made me a gift or gave me a card again. He was like, why waste my time, you'll throw it away. Taking a picture or telling them it's the thought that counts, doesn't mean anything to them. It's not the same. You will have family members and gift givers who come over and ask if you still have the gift they gave you. That is a touchy subject. Right now, decluttering, and minimalism seems to be the trend, but do it with caution because gifts are in a different category. People do get hurt and they take it very personal. So now I have a box with their things in it and a file box with their drawings. I don't see anything wrong with having things, but I wish the people over 50 would focus on other subjects besides throwing things out. And that Marie lady, she changed her mind about cluttering after she had kids.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s a valuable reminder that decluttering is not just about the physical items but also about the emotional connections we have with them. I appreciate your insight! ps...i kept the little trinket box and keep it in my drawer. 🥰❤️🌸
I can't believe I sat through this. I just decluttered because I was overwhelmed.
It's totally understandable to feel overwhelmed! Decluttering can be a big task, but it’s so rewarding once you see the results. Thanks so much for watching and commenting, i really appreciate you 🥰❤️🌸

Hi Dana, I do wish I could do this, but tbe only reason I dont dpend right now, is mostly do to the lack of money. Working on not spending the savings, though
I totally understand where you're coming from, Mel! It's tough when money is tight, but focusing on saving what you have is a great start. Every bit counts! Thanks so much for watching and commenting, i really appreciate you 🥰❤️🌸
One of the things that I miss while living in a village is all the cultural events that I used to enjoy when I lived in the city. Even though my life now is more affordable, I catch myself "adding to cart" whenever I should be out visiting a museum or an exhibition. It doesn't happen often but to me it's like a remedy to my occasional under-stimulation flu.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Chrisa! It's a great reminder that while saving money is important, enriching our lives with experiences is just as valuable. Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, i really appreciate you!! 🥰❤️🌸
She was so beautiful and sweet! I am truly so sorry for your loss I am also going through a lot of guilt about what I did not do well enough- it’s very painful because we love them so much. And I TOTALLY get not wanting to remove Ariel’s things (I hope I am spelling that correctly). I feel the same way about disturbing anything related to my beloved kitty boy Jack. There’s no rush. We will remove some of them as we are able. I listened to a veterinarian here on RUclips and she made a very good and accurate points: cats and dogs are very forgiving, they love us and they would not want us to feel guilty. Hugs to you 💖💖💖
I really appreciate your heartfelt message, Steph. It means a lot to hear that you understand what i'm going through. Sending hugs right back to you during this tough time. Jack knows and appreciates all the love and care you gave him through the years!! 🥰❤️❤️❤️
keep on being your youthful, fun self!!!
Thank you, Winnie, you too!! 🥰❤️🎉🔥
Hi Dana, some really great points you mentioned. I’ve been doing no buy days since January and I find it gets exciting when you get through another day of no spending. I also find it has made me get more creative, instead of going straight to replacing an item or buying something new, I brainstorm how can I still do what I need to, without buying anything. I had a suitcase and the outer piece of the wheel came off. We were about to bin it and my husband decided to try repair it. He managed to and we didn’t buy a new one. 👌
That's awesome to hear! It's amazing how a no-buy challenge can spark creativity and resourcefulness. Congrats to you and your husband for giving that suitcase a second life! Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, i really appreciate you 🥰❤️🌸
@ thanks, Dana. I really appreciate you responding. 🙏🏼💕
I'm not quite to 50, still have at least 7.5 years to go but I have constantly thought about space for the future and I am always okay with letting things go.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Cara! It's inspiring to see someone preparing for the future and embracing the idea of letting go. Thanks for your wonderful comment, i really appreciate you!! 🥰❤️🌸
Advertising used to be a tv, radio, newspaper get your attention thing. Now its an online advertising thing. Advertising is trying to get our attention and make us want whatever they are offering. But we can choose our own lives and whatever we want to keep, rehome or even eat. Simple living is not easy with all the media vying for our focus. And oddly enough some of our ancestors would use the newspapers to paper the outhouse. Think about that. lol
So true! It’s wild how much media is out there trying to grab our attention. Haha, who would’ve thought newspapers had a second life in the outhouse? 😂 Thanks soooo much for your wonderful comment, i really appreciate you! 🥰❤️🌸

I think I'm ready to let go of my 25 year old wedding dress. We separated over 3 years ago.
Hi Sandra, that’s a big move! Props to you for being ready to let it go. Here’s to new beginnings and making space for awesome new memories! 🥰❤️🌸👍
Your monthly calendar is a novel idea. As for me, I am already living below my means. Saving for retirement, has been a goal of mine.
Thank you for sharing your journey, Dennis! It's inspiring to see others prioritizing their financial goals. Wishing you all the best as you continue saving for retirement! 🥰❤️🌺
Thank you! Right now, my struggle is with decluttering and it doesn't look as though I made any progress so far despite having removed stuff. Perhaps you could do a video aimed at people who are really finding it difficult to reclaim their space.
It is hard sometimes to get rid of things due to emotional attachment. I have a lot of things that were my son's that passed away and I just can seem to do anything with these things. I keep telling myslef that maybe one day I will. It has been 5 years and it is still sitting there. I just don't know if I can do it.
Thank you for sharing your story. It takes immense strength to talk about such personal experiences, and it's important to honor your feelings and the memories tied to those belongings. I did have an idea that you might want to think about...what if you video'd yourself going through your son's items and telling any stories that might come to mind? It might be a really nice way to hang on to the memories, and then perhaps you can let go of some of the bigger items? I love to keep smaller items that i can hold in my hands, and they fit nicely in keepsake boxes. Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, i really appreciate you! 🥰❤️🌺
@@danafindwell I have made keepsakes for family members out of some of his shirts. I think it is hard because it is hard not to cry still going through his stuff. That is all of the physical things I have left of him, so maybe that is why I struggle.
Such a good video, Dana!! Thank you! I did a no buy last year. I'm an artist, and I was constantly buying & hoarding art supplies. Doing a no buy taught me the difference between wanting and needing something. I ended up having to buy just one jar of white & black gouache the entire year because I ran out. Talk about saving a ton!! I'm continuing the no buy this year..only buying if I absolutely need it. Otherwise, I'll keep using up what I have on hand.
That's amazing to hear, Katie! The no buy challenge can really help us reassess our spending habits. Kudos to you for sticking with it and focusing on what you truly need! Thanks soooo much for your wonderful comment, i really appreciate you!! 🥰❤️🎉
Great tips. I love the idea of keeping a calendar and marking the no-buy days as a motivator. I've been in a no-spending mode the past several weeks, especially after coming off of the holiday spending and renewing my auto insurance policy for 2025. I very rarely eat out or get take out. Sunday is usually a meal prep day where I make one or two recipes in my list of favorites that I can bring to work for lunch and/or for dinner for the week. I also stopped buying "fast fashion". I'd rather spend a bit more for a quality clothing item that is going to last me several years than something cheap that will start falling apart in a year. I did need a couple of sweaters for work so I went to Savers and managed to grab a beautiful Chico's cardigan and a GAP cardigan that looked it had never been worn for just a few dollars each. We got an extra paycheck in January the way the paydays fell, so after paying my electric bill and credit cards off I plan on putting the remainder into my savings account.
Hi Pam, I'm so glad to hear you found the tips helpful! It sounds like you have a solid plan in place for your no-buy challenge, and those thrift store finds are fantastic! Keep up the great work! 🥰❤️🎉🌸
❤❤❤Very true. I can definitely resonate with this. Let go and enjoy with few things and live a simple life I declutterred almost all of my favourite personal things that I couldn’t believe I did and so with my autistic son who had many many toys ❤❤❤and planning to donate more to people who really needs it. It gives more space
You are so strong, thank you for sharing your story!! I'm so glad you found the video helpful and i really appreciate you watching and commenting! 🥰❤️🌸
Love this friend... I actually live like this since retirement. That was December of 2023. Other than food and pet supplies or for the chickens/farm, I need nothing. We just bought a new (used) SUV. A 2014 Acura which was a huge improvement over the 2005 Buick minivan! I'm loving this topic and really enjoying going through and getting rid of things that no longer serve me at this stage in life.

I'm in, with a twist. My no-buy weeks will be spent focusing on and reminding myself that I am retired and no longer need office attire! I find myself still attracted to the suits, silk blouses, shoes, bags, etc, when my reality is yoga pants and sweatshirts. I will use the no-buy times to reset my brain!
Thank you for sharing your unique twist on the challenge, Elizabeth! It’s inspiring to see how you’re using this time to realign your mindset with your lifestyle changes. Hello yoga pants and sweatshirts, and good bye suits and silk blouses!! 🥰❤️🎉🌸

The brand and size I buy is still $3.89...the brand uses local farms. I plan on making tofu scrambled eggs once dairy eggs get too expensive for me to buy every week. A block of organic tofu at my store is $2.50 and should yield two or three servings.

OMG! Dana. I love your videos bc you have something that transmit peace. English is not my first language but the way you talk. Slow and perfectly clear not only you speak with your voice but with your body language :) You move your hands, your face and speak slowly and perfectly clear. You should be a teacher!! You seem to enjoy every day in your life and that is why I watch your videos But this time I read the title and -I said no Dana, saving is not for me right now :(. I been living with my small social security check. It is not even $1K :(. Soo many bills to pay that nothing is left to go shopping, or a restaurant or save :( I am looking for a part time job but is hard when you are over 60:( And even if you have experience and qualifications employers offer no more that $10-$12 jobs just bc you are old. :( I laugh because I haven't buy me clothes in last two years except few from Goodwill. In this country even funerals are extremely costly so I am praying... please dear GOD don't take me yet bc I haven't finished paying for my funeral expenses. 🙊I know that 2025 is going to be better and then I will start saving some money. @terrinow - I absolutely agree! Some years ago, in an attempt to manage exactly what Dana is talking about, I bought a beautiful blank book of handmade paper with a marbled hard cover. When I decide to let something go, I sit with it and revisit all the memories that make it special. Then I handwrite a little 'valediction', as in: "Goodbye, little x, I remember when we were living in x and we had no money, and I found you in x...." etc. If the item is clothing or textile, I sometimes cut a snippet and stick it in so I can touch and see the object again. Or, now that photography and home printing is so straightforward, I can paste in a picture as well. The writing down of your emotions and memories is very cathartic.
Thats such a beautiful idea, Marianne! Thanks so much for sharing that, i really appreciate you 🥰❤️🌸
I now love having only the necessary. Im 66 and getting rid of 'stuff' was SO stressful. My car is a 20 year old Toyota. I love it. ❤️ Thank you for this video. ☘️
Thank you so much for watching! I'm so glad you found the video helpful. Decluttering can be a big challenge, but it sounds like you're on the right path! And YES to our classic cars, workhorses that get us places!!🥰❤️🎉
In addition Dana, your sense of rhythm is impeccable. Tyko drumming and dance. You are too much. Lol😊. In fact, I'm an Asian file, I, respect, support, and admire the Asian race. Through my career in the Space and Defense sector, coupled with my work experience in the Medical Industry as a H.H.A / CNA. I have absolutely worked hard, together with Asians during the pandemic. ( All 3 years of it ). We developed respect for one another that carries me to this day. I am retired. 65yrs old as of February. Just win Dana!!!!! You've got the right stuff. Your fan always, Nelson Duviella
Thanks so much for sharing more about you, Nelson, it sounds like you have really done some incredible things! Its also really wonderful to hear that you have a lot of interest and respect for Asian culture. Thanks soooo much for all of your amazing support, i really appreciate you!! 🥰❤️🌺
Always Dana. My sincere hope, is that I will be able to meet with you and your wonderful family, with your new granddaughter. I love Asian babies. :)
